Hisense came out swinging at CES this week with its new display technology, RGB Local Dimming, in its massive 116-inch TV, the TriChroma 116UX.
It’s one helluva TV at almost 3 metres diagonally.

RGB Local Dimming is being celebrated as a challenger to technologies like QD-OLED (Quantum Dot OLED) the current champion of all things in TV land. TriChroma LED introduces mini LEDs that are able to individually display colours of red, green and blue. It results in greater brightness and colour accuracy while simultaneously reducing energy consumption by as much as 10%.
21,000 TriChroma LEDs combine to produce 10,000 nits peak brightness and colour to rival or beat the leading televisions in the market today. All this in a TV size that has to be seen to be believed.

“As leaders in big-screen TV, our 116-inch TriChroma LED TV epitomises the next step in our pursuit of the ultimate home entertainment experience,” said Chris Kotis, Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Hisense Australia and New Zealand.
“We continue to see strong demand for big-screen viewing in Australia, demonstrating our desire to experience sports, gaming and entertainment in a premium setting from the comfort of our own homes. The 116-inch TriChroma LED TV answers this need with a world-class and category-defining solution,”
The 116UX also integrates Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced credentials plus 6.2.2 surround audio with a 240-degree sound field.
After spending time with last year’s 110UX, I cannot wait to put the 116UX and its new technology to the test.
MICRO LED

Hisense is pushing forward with Micro LED too as demand for larger TVs continues to grow and LCD limitations are reached. On show at CES is the 108-inch Micro LED (108MX) which features an innovative new active-matrix glass-based display.
The 136-inch Micro-LED (136MX) TV takes this a step further with the integration of Hisense’s independently developed next-generation Micro-LED and AI perception picture quality chipsets to display a massive 3.58m wide picture.
“Innovation and design are central values for us at Hisense that fuel our drive to advance display technologies that bring the very best entertainment experience into Australian homes,” added Mr. Kotis.
“The continued refinement of our flagship display technology as well as our pursuit of the next generation of display technology embody this commitment to make premium technology accessible to all.”
ULED RANGE
IN 2025 Hisense will release more 100-inch TVs than ever before and elevate the U6 range to ULED quality.
The U8 Series will introduce a new 100-inch TV on top of 55-to-85-inch models. U8 will reach 5,000 nits brightness and 1,500+ dimming zones. This has improved from 2,000 nits and 1,000+ dimming zones in 2024. Like LG and Samsung, Hisense will support 165Hz for extreme gamers.
The U7 Series comes in sizes from 55-inches up to 100-inches. Hisense has also improved peak brightness up to 2,000 nits (up from 1,500 nits). The U7 Series will also support Game Mode Ultra, unlocking 165Hz.
The U6 Series gets a premium look this year with Game Mode Pro offering up to 144Hz (from 60Hz) plus technologies like Dolby Vision IQ and QLED Quantum Dot to reach the ‘ULED’ certification.
CANVAS TV
Hisense will release a new 75-inch CanvasTV, the company’s version of Samsung’s The Frame. It adds to the 55 to 65-inch options. Thanks to the CanvasTV Art Mode, it’s like having a moving art gallery at home.

The new Hisense HT Saturn is a must for home cinema fans. The system includes four wireless satellite speakers and a standalone 6.5-inch subwoofer, offering maximum placement flexibility without the hassle of cables.
To me it looks pretty stylish. The 4.1.2, 13-speaker system integrates Dolby Atmos and DTS:X technology.

The 2025 Home Entertainment range will feature the 116-inch TriChroma LED TV, U8QAU, U7QAU and U6QAU, as well as the HT Saturn and AX5140Q.
