CES is just days away from its official 2026 opening, and we’ve already seen plenty of preview announcements. So what are the top tech stories coming from Las Vegas this year?
RGB MINI-LED OR MICRO RGB TELEVISIONS

We’re about to see a barrage of TV announcements about RGB Mini-LED backlighting technology. We got a tiny taste last year, and only a couple of large, very expensive models made it to market. That’s all going to change in 2026.
Samsung’s LEDs were very small, so they went with the branding of MICRO RGB. These are tiny red, green, blue LEDs that replace the traditional LED backlights. They allow for more colour control and accuracy on LCD panels.
This is not the same technology as MICRO LED, which is a non-organic version of OLED. It is the future, but far too expensive at the moment.
ROBOTS – BIG AND SMALL

LG already gave us a teaser of its new robot. LG CLOiD is designed to perform indoor household tasks, helping enhance everyday convenience and improve quality of life by making home management more efficient and intuitive.
There’ll be a range of humanoid robots with AI personalities that will either be reassuring or very creepy.
Robot vacuums will be the most important robots when it comes to the general public. IFA saw some impressive stair climbing tech and robotic arm designs, so expect more of that at CES this year.
SMART HOME
We’re expecting homes to be more ‘aware’ of what’s happening so your smart home can deal with security, lighting, heating, and cooling, without having to get input from the owner.
Essentially, all of the gadgets in your home will work together under one smart system. A true smart home.
HEALTH AND WEARABLES

Wearables are becoming a massive part of CES. From smartwatches to smart rings, you’ll see everything in between that can fit on your body. But sensors won’t be limited to wearables; you’ll have more smart mirrors and scales to assess your fitness and health.
Exoskeletons will be back, bigger and better, in 2026. From portable walking assistants to powerful lifting rigs, you’ll have a complete range of body assistants.
The other growing category is smart glasses. Meta’s AI glasses have been a huge hit, but at CES there are many more devices that provide far more assistance.
AI

It goes without saying that AI will be everywhere at CES 2026. It will be in the smallest camera to the largest car. There’s just no escaping it.
Gemini is set to be a big winner this year as it moves into more TV sets and other devices.
