Hisense has expanded beyond televisions and home appliances, launching its first personal audio product in Australia with the HiClips open-ear wireless earbuds. The new earbuds are designed to provide an alternative to traditional in-ear headphones by allowing users to listen to music, podcasts and calls while remaining aware of their surroundings.

The Hardware

Targeting commuters, office workers, fitness enthusiasts and people on the move, the HiClips feature an open-ear design that sits outside the ear canal rather than sealing it. Hisense says this approach allows users to stay connected to conversations, traffic and other environmental sounds without removing their earbuds. Anti-leak technology is also intended to minimise sound escaping to those nearby.

Cloud white looks great and quite eye-catching

Each earbud weighs 5.5 grams and uses a flexible titanium-nickel C-bridge wrapped in silicone to provide a secure fit across a range of ear shapes. Hisense says the lightweight construction is intended for all-day comfort, whether users are working remotely, exercising or travelling. Even if you’re caught short on the 8.5-hour battery life, a quick 3-minute charge before leaving will deliver an hour of listening.

The earbuds include acoustically tuned drivers with multiple listening modes, dual microphones with noise reduction for clearer voice calls, and support for simultaneous connection to two devices, making it easier to switch between a phone, tablet or laptop. Intelligent wear detection automatically identifies which earbud is being worn in each ear.

Users can customise tap controls and shortcuts through the ConnectLife app, while a built-in earbud finder helps locate misplaced earbuds. Hisense also says fast charging provides several hours of playback after only a short charging session.

Pricing and Availability

Graphite Blue is subtle and easy on the eyes

The HiClips will be available in Australia from August 10th in Vitality Orange, Cloud White, Graphite Blue, and Midnight Black. They are sold exclusively through the Hisense Australia website with a very reasonable recommended retail price of A$199.
