Epson Australia has announced a brilliant projector solution just in time for summer.
The EH-LS650 Ultra Short Throw is a 3-Chip 3LCD Smart Streaming Laser Projector with UHD output of up to 120 inches.
The advantage of Ultra Short Throw projectors is placement. The EH-LS650 can be positioned just 38.61 cm (15.2 inches) from the wall. Essentially, it can replace your TV.
This makes for minimal disruption to the living room furniture arrangement you may have spent years perfecting.
True 3-Chip 3LCD technology delivers 3,600 lumens of colour and white brightness for clear, colourful images. This is helpful in bright rooms where projectors often struggle with ambient light. Although you can project on a white wall, it’s far better to use a light rejecting screen.
These screens are engineered to redirect up to 90% of the ambient light to increase contrast a leave a less ‘washed out’ image. Epson’s 120 inch ALR projector screen would be perfect.
The EH-LS650 is Epson’s newest 4K PRO-UHD model which means it supports high resolution content.
It uses advanced pixel-shifting technology and image processing to deliver detail and clarity without sacrificing picture brightness.
This technology is in use in other Epson projectors including the brilliant LS12000B.
In that review video, Bruce Bealby from Epson Australia, explains how pixel-shifting works to give you a 4K image.
Epson’s Setting Assistant App takes all of the hassle out of setting up and adjusting display size. It’s available for both iOS and Android devices.
When it comes to audio, you can use the built-in speakers or an external sound system. Unless you already have a good system, the onboard 2.1 virtual surround system is more than enough. It was designed by Yamaha exclusively for Epson creates an immersive sound performance.
One of the updated HDMI ports includes eARC6 support to transmit audio formats like Dolby Atmos or DTS to compatible AV receivers or soundbars.
Ultra Short Throw projectors need to look the part too. Ceiling mounted projectors can lack style but the EH-LS650 is always visible to the eye and that means it needs to look good.
Fortunately, the design team at Epson has come up with a very pleasing, modern exterior with a metallic speaker grille for enhanced acoustics.
Equipped with smart TV capabilities, the EH-LS650 also makes it easy to access popular streaming channels and even allows users to stream live TV and search with built-in Google Assistant.
On the back you’ll find plenty of ports for input and output.
