Ready to put your phone down and pick up a camera that truly inspires your creativity? Last week, FUJIFILM Australia announced the launch of the new Fujifilm X-T30 III mirrorless digital camera and the incredibly compact FUJINON XC13-33mm F3.5-6.3 OIS standard zoom lens. This powerful combination is designed to make high-quality photography more accessible than ever, appealing to users transitioning from mobile phone photography and those looking for serious creative tools in a lightweight form.

MODERNISED NOSTALGIA

The X-T30 III continues the popular design of the X-T30 series, retaining its classic centre viewfinder style and compact body, weighing just 378g (including battery and memory card). Inside, it’s been fully modernised, featuring a back-side-illuminated 26.1-megapixel sensor and the new, high-speed X-Processor 5. This upgraded processor allows the camera to process images nearly twice as fast as the previous model. It also features the latest subject-detection autofocus powered by deep learning, which automatically recognises and tracks a wide range of subjects, including animals, birds, cars, trains, and even drones, letting you focus entirely on your composition and timing. For video creators, the X-T30 III now supports high-resolution 6.2K/30P internal recording and includes a new 9:16 movie mod for easily shooting vertical videos perfect for social media.

One of the most exciting new features is the dedicated Film Simulation dial, introduced to the X-T30 line to enhance creative expression with intuitive control. This dial grants instant access to 20 different Film Simulations. Fujifilm’s unique digital colour reproduction technology that recreates the look of traditional photographic films—including “REALA AC” and “NOSTALGIC Neg”. Users can even register their original “Film Simulation Recipe” to the dial’s three customisable positions (FS1 to FS3) for quick recall of their favourite looks. For first-time digital camera users, a simple “AUT” shooting mode switch allows the camera to automatically detect the scene and select optimal settings, taking the worry out of complex controls.

A LENS TO SUPPORT YOUR ADVENTURES

To pair with this new camera, Fujifilm has released the incredibly portable FUJINON XC13-33mmF3.5-6.3 OIS lens, which is the smallest and lightest interchangeable zoom lens in their lineup, weighing only approximately 125g and measuring just 37.5mm in length when retracted. This retractable standard zoom covers a highly versatile focal range, from a wide-angle 13mm (equivalent to a 20mm in 35mm format) ideal for expansive landscapes, to a standard 33mm (equivalent to 50mm) effective for portraits and street photography. Despite its minimal size, the lens incorporates a 4-stop image stabilisation mechanism for sharp handheld shots in diverse scenes, and an ultrafast autofocus performance of approximately 0.025 seconds. The ability to focus as close as 20cm throughout the entire zoom range also makes it excellent for close-up shots of food, flowers, and pets.

Fujifilm Australia’s General Manager, Shaun Mah, noted that the lens was created by listening to consumers, making the new FUJINON XC13-33mm F3.5-6.3 OIS the ideal solution for users travelling and transitioning to dedicated cameras, adding that the lens is perfect for wide-angle, portraits, or just something to fit easily in a bag.
