Apple has released a new haptic trailer for F1 The Movie, exclusive to the iPhone. It’s pretty cool. You can see the haptic trailer as viewed on my phone in the video above or uou can check it out for yourself in the Apple TV app here (requires iOS 18.4 or later, with nothing additional to download or activate). I can’t really show you the rumble of the phone but I can assure you, it’s nicely done. I passed it to my wife to watch this morning and thinking it was a normal trailer she gave an audible ‘oh’ when it started playing and doing its haptic thing. Tracey was impressed and that isn’t easy to do. So well played Apple.

Formula 1 is on a roll when it comes to popularity so it will be interesting to see how the fans react to the movie. Starring Brad Pitt, F1 is inspired by the camera technology developed for Top Gun: Maverick, also directed Joseph Kosinski.

Apple says, “each haptic sequence was designed frame by frame to align perfectly with the emotional beats and rhythm of the film, resulting in a captivating and cinematic experience you can literally feel. Like sound design or colour grading, haptics were treated as part of the creative process — not an afterthought. Every vibration serves the story.”

If you’ve used a gaming controller with rumble feedback, you’ll know what to expect. It certainly adds a layer of immersiveness when watching on your iPhone. It kinda feels like you’re holding the steering wheel at times. It was designed using the Taptic Engine on the iPhone giving a variation of sensations as the F1 cars accelerate, change gear, hit the curbs and others cars.
F1 The Movie will debut in cinemas and IMAX on 26 June, 2025.
