In Sunday’s segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we discussed the tech trends for 2022.

The big one is health but we’ll get a better idea of what to expect after CES opens this week.

POOL ROBOTS

Per capita – Australia is the world’s top pool owning country and globally – the pandemic has driven domestic pool construction to insane levels. So .. more pools means more cleaning. The best solution to ongoing maintenance is a pool cleaning robot. The big advantage is they are self-contained cleaners because they do not require pool suction top operate.

We discuss what makes a good robot pool cleaner and test drive the Barracuda Capture Plus. I bought it for $1299 AUD at Bunnings. I’m shooting a comprehensive review so keep an eye out for it soon.

LG KITCHEN DOES IT ALL

LG’s ThinQ Recipe app will let users choose from up to 10,000 recipes, with the app adding ingredients to your grocery list for delivery. You’ll be able to sends cooking instructions to compatible LG ThinQ ovens.

LG will officially unveil its new ovens and other kitchen devices at CES this week.

BLACKBERRY ‘FINALLY’ KILLS OFF ZOMBIE PHONES

Legacy services for BlackBerry 7.1 OS and earlier, BlackBerry 10 software, BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1 and earlier versions, will no longer be available after January 4, 2022. As of this date, devices running these legacy services and software through either carrier or Wi-Fi connections will no longer reliably function, including for data, phone calls, SMS and 9-1-1 (000) functionality.

This means it’s the end of the road for these phones but BlackBerry Android versions are not impacted.
