Amazon announced the Australian launch of Kindle Colorsoft earlier this week, marking a significant leap forward in e-reader technology by introducing the first-ever colour Kindle. This highly anticipated device promises to deliver a vibrant, glare-free reading experience without compromising on the beloved features of traditional Kindles.

The Kindle Colorsoft maintains the signature paper-like display, fast page turns, adjustable warm light, and exceptional battery life that users have come to expect. What sets it apart is its innovative colour display, designed to add depth to book pages while remaining easy on the eyes.

“We’re delighted to bring Kindle Colorsoft to our customers in Australia, said Jacqui Corbett, Amazon Devices Country Manager, Australia and New Zealand.  This is a significant milestone for Kindle locally, offering readers the perfect blend of our beloved e-reader experience with high-contrast colour capabilities.”

Bringing Books to Life with Colour

With the Kindle Colorsoft, readers can now browse their Kindle Library and store in full colour, bringing book covers to life. Inside books, photos, and images will display in vibrant hues. The device also introduces colour highlighting in yellow, orange, blue, and pink, which can be easily filtered for later review. For those who prefer a darker reading environment, a Page Colour feature inverts text and background colours.

The 7-inch Kindle Colorsoft boasts a meticulously designed Colorsoft display that delivers rich, paper-like colour. It utilises an oxide backplane with custom waveforms for enhanced performance and contrast, alongside a new light-guide with nitride LEDs and Amazon’s custom algorithms to boost colour and brightness without detail washout. Users can zoom in on images without pixelation and choose between standard or vibrant colour styles.

Designed for Convenience and Durability

Beyond its colour capabilities, the Kindle Colorsoft offers up to 8 weeks of battery life on a single full charge via USB-C. It is also waterproof, making it ideal for reading in various environments, from the bath to the beach.

Pricing and Availability

The Kindle Colorsoft is available starting today, with the 16GB model priced at AU$399, including three months of Kindle Unlimited. The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, featuring an auto-adjusting front light, wireless charging, and 32GB of storage, is available for AU$449.00

Customers can purchase the Kindle Colorsoft from Amazon.com.au and leading Australian retailers such as JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks. A range of fabric, plant-based leather, and premium leather covers are also available from Amazon.com.au, starting from AU$59.95, in various colours.
