Samsung has unveiled its latest Galaxy A series smartphones, the Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G, aiming to bring more premium-style features — particularly AI-driven tools — into a more affordable price bracket. Positioned as everyday devices with a focus on camera, battery life and longevity, the new models continue Samsung’s push to make its “Awesome Intelligence” features more widely accessible.

At the top of the lineup, the Galaxy A57 5G is pitched as the most capable A-series device yet, with a slimmer design, upgraded performance and enhanced AI features compared to previous generations. The A37 5G sits just below it, offering many of the same core experiences at a lower entry price.

AI FEATURES MOVE FURTHER DOWN THE PRICE RANGE

The headline feature here is Samsung’s expanded AI toolkit, delivered through One UI 8.5. These tools are clearly designed to simplify everyday tasks rather than feel experimental, with features like voice transcription for recordings, smarter on-screen selection tools, and improved photo editing baked directly into the system.

Starting at $749.00 the A57 offers most of the features without the cost of flagship

There’s also deeper integration with Google’s Circle to Search, now capable of recognising multiple objects in a single image, alongside upgrades to Samsung’s own Bixby assistant and support for Google’s Gemini AI for more complex, cross-app tasks. In practice, this looks like a continued shift toward phones that can handle small productivity jobs without needing multiple apps or manual steps.

CAMERA IMPROVEMENTS FOCUSED ON REAL-WORLD USE

Both devices feature a 50MP main camera backed by AI-powered image processing, with Samsung leaning heavily into usability rather than raw specs. The focus is on consistent results across lighting conditions, with improved “Nightography” capabilities designed to deliver clearer low-light shots without needing manual adjustments.

The A57 5G gets additional processing enhancements to improve detail, reduce noise and capture motion more effectively, while both models include ultra-wide and macro lenses for flexibility. AI-driven subject recognition and scene optimisation aim to keep skin tones natural and backgrounds well-balanced, which should appeal to users who just want point-and-shoot reliability.

PERFORMANCE, BATTERY AND DISPLAY

Samsung is positioning the A57 5G as a strong all-rounder for streaming, gaming and content creation. It pairs a large 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate and improved outdoor visibility via Vision Booster. The A37 5G offers a similar screen experience, albeit without some of the higher-end display enhancements.

Battery life is another key focus, with both devices featuring a 5,000mAh battery. Samsung claims up to two days of use for the A57 5G under typical conditions, supported by fast charging and improved thermal management to sustain performance during longer sessions.

The A37 is very budget friendly at just $599.00

Durability has also been addressed, with IP68 water and dust resistance across both models — a feature that’s still relatively uncommon in this price range.

LONG-TERM SECURITY AND SUPPORT

One of the more compelling inclusions is Samsung’s commitment to longevity. Both devices are set to receive up to six generations of Android and One UI updates, along with six years of security patches. That’s a significant step toward making mid-range phones viable long-term devices rather than short upgrade cycles.

Security features include Samsung Knox Vault for hardware-level protection, alongside a suite of privacy tools such as a security dashboard, enhanced alerts and a new Private Album feature for locking away sensitive media.

Samsung is also leaning into family use, with built-in parental controls and Samsung Kids mode allowing parents to manage screen time, restrict content and create a safer environment for younger users.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G are set to launch globally from April 10, with Australian pricing starting at $749 for the A57 5G (128GB), rising to $849 for the 256GB model. The more affordable Galaxy A37 5G starts at $599 for 128GB.

In a market where flagship prices continue to climb, Samsung’s latest A series looks to strike a balance between affordability and genuinely useful features. Rather than chasing headline-grabbing specs, the focus here is clearly on delivering a reliable, AI-assisted everyday experience — and for many users, that’s likely to be exactly the sweet spot.
