Samsung’s latest Odyssey gaming monitors, including the Odyssey 3D and Odyssey OLED G8, are now available for pre-order in Australia.

Odyssey 3D
The new Odyssey 3D (G90XF) 27” monitor offers a 3D gaming experience without the need for special glasses. Using eye-tracking technology and a proprietary lenticular lens, Samsung is able to show the user an image that appears to pop right out of the screen.
I tried this technology at the Samsung booth during IFA last year and it was impressive.
Samsung is working with major game developers to make 3D content.

The Odyssey 3D also features AI video conversion, which can transform video content into 3D. Every scene of compatible content is analysed and converted to 3D for 3D effects with less eye strain.
When it comes to gaming performance, the Odyssey 3D has a 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms Grey-to-Grey (GtG) response time, while AMD FreeSync™ Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC reduce choppiness and screen lag.
Edge Lighting takes 3D immersion to the next level by filling the gaming environment with lighting that adapts to games. It fills the space under the monitor with colours that synchronise with the screen’s lighting, enhancing the 3D screen and bringing game environments into real life.
Odyssey OLED G8
The new Odyssey OLED G8 (G81SF) is also available in 27” and 32” versions with a lightning fast 240Hz refresh rate.
The 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms (GtG) response time make the Odyssey OLED G8 a top performance gaming monitor, with fast and smooth screen movements. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible to prevent stuttering, tearing and jittering.
The 4K QD-OLED displays, boosted by VESA DisplayHDR™ TrueBlack 400, deliver amazing colour and contrast at typically 250nit brightness. Samsung’s Glare Free technology also reduces reflections.
The screen’s image is protected by Samsung OLED Safeguard+. The proprietary Dynamic Cooling System uses a Pulsating Heat Pipe to diffuse heat without adjusting brightness. This helps protect the screen from burn-in.
It also looks the part with a slim metal design. Core Lighting+ surrounds the user with lighting based on the screen.
