Samsung has announced a stack of new foldables and wearables but we still managed to fit them all in the headline.
The Ring is real and it’s shipping to some markets this month but not to Australia .. yet. We’ll have to wait.
The Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6 will be available in store on July 31 (pre-orders from July 11), as will the Watch7, Watch Ultra, Buds3 and Buds3 Pro.

GALAXY RING
Samsung’s most anticipated product for some time was the first device announced at Unpacked in Paris. The Galaxy Ring followed an opening spiel about AI and Health.
Made from lightweight titanium, it has three sensors:
- Accelerometer
- PPG (Heart Rate)
- Skin Temperature
Samsung claims 7-day battery life which makes the Galaxy Ring the ideal device for recording sleep data. It weighs in between 2.3 grams and 3.0 grams. The three colour options are Black, Silver and Gold. There are nine size options and the price is US$399.
All data and insights are integrated into Samsung Health which is thankfully subscription-free. This is a big win for users. A sleep AI algorithm will help you understand your sleep patterns and build better habits. Other analysis includes; Sleep Score and snoring analysis, new sleep metrics such as movement during sleep, sleep latency, heart and respiratory rate provide a detailed and accurate analysis of sleep quality. Cycle Tracking helps track menstrual cycles.
Energy Score is a new Galaxy AI enabled feature that is calculated by evaluating your physical and mental conditions across four factors: Sleep, Activity, Sleeping Heart Rate and Sleeping Heart Rate Variability. You can also receive wellness tips.
Heart Rate Alert provides instant notifications when it detects unusually high or low heart rates in real-time via the Samsung Health app. There’s also Live Heart Rate Check, Auto Workout Detection, and daily fitness reminders with Inactive Alert.
The Ring is also a mini controller. You can take photos or brush your alarm on Galaxy smartphones with a double pinch via Gestures.

GALAXY Z FLIP6
The 3.4-inch Super AMOLED outside display has been enhanced on the Galaxy Flip through AI. AI-assisted functions can be accessed with the device closed, saving time and hassle. You can reply to texts with Suggested Replies, which analyses your latest messages to suggest a bespoke response. Samsung calls the external screen FlexWindow. It gives access to Samsung Health updates and notifications. It also allows you to select the next track from your music widget.
With the AI-powered Photo Ambient, a wallpaper can change in real-time based on the time and weather. You can also easily create a unified look and feel with suggested screen layout options by analysing your wallpaper. NFC powered cards also light up when slipped into the back case. They also help drive the animations on the front display.
Samsung has listened to us and upgraded the main cameras nestled in the corner of the FlexWindow. A 50MP Wide angle joins the 12MP Ultra-wide sensor with the new 50MP sensor supporting 2x optical quality zoom. AI zoom will give you up to 10x reach but I’d only use it at a stretch. The night capturing feature is now available in-app on Instagram.
Although the hinge has been improved you can still see and feel the crease on the inside display but it is less noticeable.
One of the biggest issues with a flip phone is battery life. Thankfully, Samsung has packed a 4000mAh battery in the Flip6 – to much applause I might add.

GALAXY Z FOLD6
The Galaxy Z Fold6 is lighter and brighter compared with last year’s Fold5. The cover screen comes in at 6.3-inches on the new model while the older version has a 6.2-inch outside display.
On paper the cameras look very similar but there are improved video recording options and better overall performance.
At a glance there doesn’t appear to be too much change from last year but the Fold6 is running on the upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. This means the Fold6 is more powerful than its predecessor and it needs to be to run a lot of AI tasks.
Samsung is also taking advantage of its large foldable screen when using translation apps in real time. Interpreter comes with a conversation mode that enables both parties to view translations on the main and cover screens at the same time. This is a very cool demo and I get the impression that Samsung is doing a better job at live translations than anyone else in the industry.
Gaming is better on the Fold6 thanks to its beefy chipset and 1.6x larger vapour chamber. Graphics are supported by Ray Tracing on the 7.6-inch fold out screen which pumps out 2,600 nits of peak brightness.
The Fold6 is available in Silver Shadow, Pink and Navy.
The Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6 also ship with seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

GALAXY WATCH 7
The Galaxy Watch7 is equipped with the most powerful chip in the Galaxy Watch line-up, and for the first time a 3nm Processor.
It has a three times faster CPU25 and 30% improved power efficiency of application processor. Watch7 is the first Galaxy smartwatch to feature a Dual-frequency GPS system, which is more accurate in dense urban areas.
You can track over 100 workouts and receive a complete body and fitness snapshot. Receive real-time readings and alerts for abnormally high or low heart rates with Heart Rate monitoring plus Electrocardiogram (ECG) and Blood Pressure (BP) monitoring.
Galaxy Watch7 will be available in 40mm and 44mm. 40mm is available in Green and Cream, while 44mm is available in Green and Silver.
GALAXY WATCH ULTRA
The Galaxy Watch Ultra is a larger and more rugged version of the Watch7. The Titanium Grade 4 frame and 10ATM water resistance makes this one helluva adventure watch.
A new Functional Threshold Power (FTP) for cycling accurately measures maximum cycling power in just 4 minutes with AI-powered FTP metrics to unlock full potential based on indicators unique to you.
Newly added Quick Button allows you to instantly initiate and control workouts and map other functions. And there’s an emergency siren on the Wear OS 5 powered device. Watch7 is also using the same operating system.
With a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, Galaxy Watch Ultra will be much easier to read in bright sunlight. The 590mAh battery is the biggest in the Galaxy Watch series.
When worn with the Galaxy Ring, the Galaxy Watches will provide more accurate readings and it will also extend the battery life of the Ring by up to 30%.
Galaxy Watch Ultra40 will be available in 47mm with Titanium Grey, Titanium White and Titanium Silver.

BUDS3 AND BUDS3 PRO
The Buds3 and Buds3 Pro have a new look.
Samsung’s ‘blade design’ looks like a sharper, more angled version of Apple’s AirPods Pro. You will stand out from the crowd with Blade Lights which are LEDs that light the sides of the blades. You control the buds by pinching or swiping up or down the blade.
Galaxy Buds3 Pro is Canal Type and therefore offer superior sound when it comes to earbuds. Buds3 is Open Type which is better suited for people on the go and taking calls over a longer period.
Thanks to Galaxy AI, you can turn on Interpreter in Listening mode on Galaxy Z Fold6 or Flip6 with Galaxy Buds3 series plugged into your ears. This will allow you to hear the lecture translated directly through your Galaxy Buds, helping to remove language barriers that may exist in your studies.
The microphones in the Buds3 series analyse both internal and external sound in real time to enhance sound and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) quality through Adaptive EQ and Adaptive ANC.
Galaxy Buds3 Pro comes with enhanced 2-way speakers with planar tweeter and Dual Amplifiers. Ultra High Quality Audio supports a doubled sampling rate with SSC codec. And phone calls will sound better too.
