The DJI Osmo 360 is here and after this initial review I’m happy enough to open my wallet and buy one immediately. The very first thing you notice is the sharpness of the video. The 8K sensor, combined with 50 frames per second gives a hyper-real result. 10-bit recording also makes this a professional camera in my book. It enables production teams to shoot in a flat profile, in this case D-Log M, and have the ability to match a 360 camera match their professional workflow.

In the initial review video above, I took the Osmo 360 onto Sydney Harbour to see how it would handle a ferry on a wet, sometimes sunny, windy day.  I also tried it mounted inside and outside of a car before walking around Sydney in the  rain.

What I found was an extremely clear image thanks to the square 1-inch 360 sensor system used by DJI. Combine that with a maximum video setting of 8K/50fps and you have an excellent first attempt at a 360 camera by DJI.

Below you can experience a five minute clip in 360 format. You can move the point of view around yourself by using a computer mouse, smartphone gyroscope or VR headset.

Although impressed with the camera, I believe it needs a bit more testing in different environments to ensure it can beat Insta360 and possibly GoPro if the Max 2 launches soon.

Will you be getting an Osmo 360? Let us know after watching our review..
