Australians can now get their hands on Swann’s second gen ActiveResponse Personal Safety Alarm for just A$39. It’s the ideal device for shift workers, joggers, school kids or anyone concerned about their safety when out and about. It features a long-lasting CR2 battery that should be good for a year.
If you’re in danger you simply pull the ring to activate a 120 decibel siren while the device sends an SMS containing your GPS location to a nominated contact. This is done via bluetooth connection to your smartphone and the Swann Security app. You can also press the button to share your location without setting off the alarm. This is perfect for discreet distress signals.

I’m a big fan of this product for a few reasons. It’s small and loud, simple to setup and use, gives your location immediately to a nominated person, plus it is cheap. Like I said on Sky News Weekend Edition in the video above, I’m getting several devices. It also comes with carabiner and lanyard accessories for use on a keyring , bag or around your neck.
