DJI, primarily known for its dominance in the consumer drone and camera stabilisation sectors, has officially expanded its hardware portfolio with the launch of the DJI Power 1000 Mini. Targeted at campers, road trippers, and content creators, this new unit represents the company’s smallest 1kWh-class power station, leveraging over 15 years of battery R&D and a portfolio of more than 700 battery patents.

The Power 1000 Mini is a compact, square form factor measuring 314 × 212 × 216 mm and weighing 11.5 kg. Despite its reduced footprint compared to the standard Power 1000, it maintains a 1008Wh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery capacity; very much capable of delivering on the power requirements of a day out with your tech.
TECHNOLOGY AND FEATURES
The DJI Power 1000 Mini delivers a maximum continuous output of 1000W and can surge to power appliances rated up to 1200W. To deliver on this, the unit Power 1000 Mini has a versatile array of connectivity options, including two AC outlets, two USB-A ports, and a proprietary SDC port specifically engineered to integrate seamlessly with the broader DJI ecosystem. Beyond its electrical capabilities, the device is built for rugged reliability; its chassis is constructed from flame-retardant materials and is robust enough to withstand static pressure of up to one ton. Designed to perform in extreme environments, the power station operates effectively at altitudes up to 5,000 meters and features a specialised potting process that shields the inverter from moisture, condensation, and salt spray.
A clear focus of the Mini is the capacity to quickly recharge, supporting three distinct input methods:
- Grid Charging: In “Fast Recharge Mode,” the unit reaches 80% capacity in 58 minutes and 100% in 75 minutes.
- Vehicle Charging: A built-in 400W car charger input allows for a full recharge in approximately 160 minutes while driving, utilising a separate DJI Power Car Battery Charging Cable.
- Solar Input: An integrated 400W MPPT module allows direct connection to solar panels via an MC4 cable, eliminating the need for external adapters.

For peripheral devices, the unit includes a built-in retractable 100W USB-C cable that can also serve as an emergency input source for the power station itself.
BATTERY MANAGEMENT AND LONGEVITY
Battery Longevity and Safety Systems The Power 1000 Mini employs LFP cells that have undergone nail-penetration testing. DJI claims the battery chemistry retains approximately 80% of its capacity after 4,000 charge cycles, which translates to a theoretical lifespan of 10 years with daily use.
Safety is managed by an Intelligent Battery Management System (BMS) featuring 10 internal temperature sensors. These sensors monitor thermal conditions in real-time, with data accessible via the DJI Home app. The system also includes a built-in LED light array adjustable from a dim glow to high-intensity output for emergency signalling.
The unit features a proprietary SDC port that enables pass-through charging and fast-charging protocols for select DJI drone batteries. For instance, a DJI Air 3 Series battery can reportedly charge from 10% to 95% in 30 minutes when connected via the specific DJI Power Fast Charge Cable.

The unit can also function as an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). When connected to a grid-powered device, the Power 1000 Mini switches to backup power within 0.01 seconds during a blackout, ensuring continuous operation for sensitive electronics.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The DJI Power 1000 Mini is currently available for order via the DJI online store and authorised retailers. The base retail price is listed at AU$799.00. Launch promotions running from April 20 to May 3 include a free car charging cable for the first 50 purchasers and a lottery for a foldable solar panel.
