Samsung has officially launched its most capable Android tablets to date, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and the Galaxy Tab S12+. The high-end Galaxy tablets have always had great displays and felt super-thin in the hand. One of our biggest videos involved early access to the Galaxy Tab S6, which had a 10.5-inch display.

We’ve come a long way since then, Samsung. The Tab S12 Ultra has a massive 14.6-inch display, while the S12+ has a 12.6-inch screen.

Ridiculously Thin, Surprisingly Powerful

It’s hard to overstate just how thin these devices are. The Ultra measures in at a razor-thin 5.1mm, but Samsung is still squeezing a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor and a newly designed 3D Vapour Chamber. Whether you’re rendering video footage on the fly or multitasking across three different apps, it’s built to stay cool and responsive.

You’re looking at up to 23 hours of video playback on the Ultra (backed by an 11,600 mAh battery) and 21 hours on the Plus. When you do need to juice up, the 45W super-fast charging will get you back to 100% with minimal downtime. Plus, both the tablets and the included S Pen boast an IP68 rating, meaning they can easily survive a coffee spill at your local cafe or some dust out in the field.

Displays

The Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels on the S12 series are gorgeous. Pushing a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, you won’t have any issues working outdoors or in brightly lit airport lounges. They’ve also upgraded the audio to a 4-channel spatial setup, which is brilliant for streaming or checking your audio mix while editing.

AI Takes Center Stage

Running Android 17 and One UI 9, the real star of the show is the AI integration. Samsung is throwing in a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, giving you access to Gemini’s most capable models right out of the box.

The productivity boosts are significant. With Note Assist, you can have AI summarise your messy handwritten S Pen notes in real-time while you’re sitting in a briefing or watching a lecture. The new Gemini Notebook feature lets you dump images, files, and recordings into one workspace and spits out summaries or even podcasts to help you digest the info. If you opt for the Pro Keyboard (which features a dedicated Galaxy AI Key), bringing up Gemini or Bixby is instantaneous.

Creator Ecosystem

For the digital creatives out there, Samsung has scored a major win as Adobe Photoshop comes pre-loaded. This is a first for Android tablets, and it includes Adobe Firefly’s generative AI tools like Generative Fill. Samsung is throwing in a four-month free premium mobile subscription to get you started.

You also get access to LumaFusion for pro-level video editing (at a massive 66% discount), Notability, and GoodNotes, making this an incredibly robust machine for digital artists, videographers, and professionals alike.

  • The Galaxy Tab S12 series arrives in Australia on October 22, 2026.
