Whenever I talk about Sony cameras and video, one of the first things I say is, “from the top down you get a consistent result and that keeps you locked in.”
Now we have the new a6700 APS-C (cropped) with 26 Megapixel back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor at its heart. No matter how much Sony kit you have a camera like the a6700 with internal 10bit recording is a going to get you out of a tight spot. The camera also supports high-quality XAVC S-I (All-Intra) and XAVC HS formats with 10-bit 4:2:2 colour sampling. The α6700 captures 4K (QFHD: 3840 x 2160) at up to 60p (50p) using Sony’s proprietary 6K oversampling technology. You also get 4K 120p but at a severe crop penalty. It also has an anti flicker shutter option among many other top end features.
The a6700 represents a big leap for this line of Sony cameras. And yes I’ll be adding one to the Image Matrix Tech kit bag. The a6700 will be available soon in Australia for $2,299.
