There are sweet rides and then there are sweet rides. Spectre, the first fully electric Rolls-Royce made its Australian debut on Thursday. The car in the video above is the one and only of its type in the country. And as you’d expect, the world’s first ultra-luxury electric super coupé is turning heads. Despite a two-year wait and A$770,000 starting price, Rolls is reporting strong interest and demand for Spectre worldwide.

“We are delighted to celebrate the debut of Spectre in Australia, the most anticipated model in the history of our marque,” said Irene Nikkein, Regional Director Asia-Pacific, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

“Australia remains a key market for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in the region and is one of the top 3 markets for the model in the Asia Pacific.”

Although the Spectre is the first EV Rolls-Royce is selling there is a lengthy connection with electric technologies. In 1900 Rolls-Royce co-founder Charles Rolls envisaged an electric future for the motor car. More than a century later, in 2011, Rolls-Royce showcased a fully electric Experimental Phantom concept named 102EX followed by the 103EX.

In 2021, Rolls-Royce announced Spectre and by the end of 2030, the entire portfolio would be fully electric.

“We’re obviously not the first EV into the market,” said Fred Whitwell, Product Specialist Electrification Strategy Rolls-Royce.

“We’ve waited till the technology is in a position where we were comfortable it would meet our clients’ needs.”

The first Spectre deliveries are due later this year. And this is what you get with the car.
