OLED
LG Electronics Australia has announced its 2025 TV lineup but there is one model that stands head and shoulders above the rest. The OLED evo G5 uses a new Primary RGB Tandem structure which organises the light source into four stacks. It does this by adding two layers of blue elements and separate layers of red and green.
Not only does this arrangement allow for increased maximum brightness, colour brightness is also boosted. Colour purity is enhanced by separating the red, green, and blue elements – the three primary colours of light – into distinct layers, resulting in a colour brightness of 2,100 nits, a 40% improvement over the previous generation (1,500 nits).

The results are undeniable. I did a comparison with last year’s G4 in the First Look Video above but the camera doesn’t do justice to the improvement, You have to see it to believe it. The first thing you notice is how much brighter the G5 is against its previous model. The second thing you’ll notice is how much sharper the G5 is compared with the G4.

The flagship M5 and G5 OLED evo models are powered by the new Alpha 11 AI Processor, achieving brightness levels up to three times higher than non-evo LG OLED models. The Alpha 11 Gen2 harnesses the power of AI to deliver an immersive and personalised viewing experience. AI Super Upscaling intelligently analyses and enhances low-resolution content, while AI Dynamic Tone Mapping optimises brightness and contrast in every scene. AI Noise Reduction eliminates distractions for a cleaner picture, AI Object Recognition enhances individual objects for lifelike detail across movies, sports and games, and gamers will appreciate lag-free playtime with an improved Variable Refresh Rate of 165Hz.

It’s easily the best yearly upgrade I have ever seen on the same model. However, depending on the content, the G4 will match the G5 but when fed brightly mastered HDR content, the G5 is in a league of its own. Well, not quite as the M5 is the same panel but in a wireless version.

“The OLED M is an enhancement over last year’s M4. We didn’t really roll that out a lot in Australia. It was fairly limited. So we’re going to expand that as an offer, as an upsell to every G5 sale,” said Tony Brown, General Manager – Home Entertainment Marketing and Content Business at LG Electronics Australia.

“The transmission is up from 120 hertz to 144. So the picture and sound quality streaming is even better than before.”
The other big ticket item is the OLED T and it’s already attracting a lot of interest.
“We’re very pleased to be offering Australia’s first wireless 4K OLED transparent TV this year,” Brown added.

“Imagine you’ve got a $20 million penthouse overlooking Sydney Harbour and after you’ve watched your beautiful movie you want to pack your TV away … well you don’t have to with a transparent (TV). You just turn off the screen and you can see the million dollar view through the TV.”
It really is a special moment to see all of the new TVs and sound systems each year. LG has 40 new models and there’s something for every budget and setting.

The popular mid-range C5 OLED evo TV is powered by the Alpha 9 Gen 8 Processor and it’s available in six sizes (42-, 48, 55-, 65-, 77- and 83-inches). The C5 delivers perfect blacks and impressive colour accuracy through refined image processing that enhances clarity and contrast. Equipped with Brightness Booster technology, which enhances peak brightness up to 50 percent compared to non-evo LG OLED models, the C5 delivers vivid highlights and better visibility in bright rooms, while Dolby Vision® optimises contrast and colour for lifelike images across a variety of content. LG has also improved sound performance on the OLED evo C5 with virtual 11.1.2 channel sound and AI Voice Remastering, which extracts and enhances voices from the audio mix for easy to understand dialogue when watching content.

The C5 features HDMI 2.1, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) help reduce lag and screen tearing, delivering smoother, more responsive gameplay.
The entry-level B5 OLED is powered by the Alpha 8 AI Processor and supportsDolby Vision for HDR performance. HDMI 2.1 provides smoother motion and responsiveness for gaming, while the webOS 25 platform offers a personalised TV experience, making it easy to navigate apps and content. The B5 starts at RRP A$1,899 for the 48-inch model

QNED
Of course it’s not just about OLED when it comes to LG.
In 2025, LG has introduced a new 100-inch QNED evo model QNED86. QNED86 and QNED81 feature improved colour production compared to previous models, which applies Dynamic QNED Colour Solution, a new LG proprietary wide colour gamut technology that replaces quantum dots. This colour solution ensures consistent colour accuracy, deep contrast, and achieves 100% Colour Volume to the DCI-P3 colour space.

NANOCELL
LG’S entry-level NanoCell TVs offers a higher quality option this year.
LG NanoCell technology takes 4K resolution and makes it better through nanoparticle pixels that enhance colours and filter dull tones. This results in a brighter picture than LG UHD TVs.

There’s a new assistant to help across the full range of OLED, QNED and NanoCell TVs this year. AI Chatbot anticipates users’ issues related to the TVs operation, offering a seamless and intuitive support experience. Instead of navigating complex menus, users can simply say “The screen is too dark”, and AI Chatbot will automatically adjust the brightness, or answer questions and other setting-related problems, all through voice commands. The power of AI extends to the new AI Search feature, which can provide content recommendations and information by holding down the AI button and speaking into the TV remote. With the integration of Microsoft Copilot, users can be directed to more complex answers that require broader knowledge, such as travel planning.
