OPPO is about to release its Reno12 Series, which on its own, looks to be a smart buy. But when you consider the promotional offer OPPO has planned for the first month, it’s not just a smart buy, it’s a no brainer.
The Reno series has always been a leading mid-to-premium range mobile device for photography with cutting edge-features and now it’s leading the way in AI for OPPO.
So what’s the deal?
To celebrate the Australian launch of the Reno12 series, OPPO is offering a special Gift With Purchase promotion.
From 27 June to 25 July, 2024 – customers who order the Reno12 Pro for A$999 will receive an OPPO Watch X, valued at A$699, as a gift with purchase via redemption.
Customers ordering the Reno12 for A$799 will receive an OPPO Pad Neo, valued at A$449, as a gift with purchase via redemption.
I’ve seen a few promos in my time and this is one of the best.
“We are incredibly excited to introduce the OPPO Reno12 Series and Watch X to our Australian customers,” said Michael Tran, Managing Director of OPPO Australia.
“With the Reno12 Series, we’re following through on our commitment to bring advanced AI capabilities to handsets beyond flagships.
“Following on from our recently launched Pad Neo, the new OPPO Watch X further demonstrates our dedication to continuing to build out the OPPO ecosystem for our Australian customers by now providing a high-end wearable product.”
RENO12 SERIES AND GENERATIVE AI
The Reno12 Series comes with a suite of GenAI features you’d find in more expensive handsets. AI Eraser allows users to easily remove strangers in photos with a simple tap. AI Studio can create digital avatars or artistic portrait styles from just one single user photo.
Both phones have AI support to enhance group photos. Including opening eyes that were closed and other facial enhancements.
The Reno12 Series looks good with a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED display attached to a high-strength alloy framework. This helps to protect the devices from drops, pressure, and water. They are powered by the new 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy mobile platform, co-developed by MediaTek and OPPO.

I’ve always considered OPPO the industry leader in battery tech. The Reno12 Series includes OPPO’s 80W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge technology. These phones have the highest energy density 5,000 mAh battery in Reno Series history with up to four years of optimal battery lifespan.
THE BONUS DEVICES
So what are the gift devices like? This is what to expect if you purchase a Reno12 Pro or Reno12.
OPPO Watch X is A$699 device on its own. OPPO claims it has a 100 hour battery life, that’s four-and-a-bit days if you didn’t want to do the maths. This is something I’ll be testing over the coming weeks. I might also note, it can apparently reach 12 days in Power Saver Mode.
It lasts that long thanks to a large 500mAh battery. Watch VOOC Flash Charging works for both multi-day use and quick recharging. It can be fully charged in just 60 minutes or provide an additional 24 hours of use in as little as 10 minutes.
Watch X is equipped with dual-frequency GPS and multiple exclusive fitness monitoring features. Powered by Wear OS, Watch X can install Google apps including Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Wallet, and Google Play. It offers a wide range of third-party apps, and with Fast Pair, it can be quickly connected and set up with your OPPO or other Android smartphone.
At the heart of Watch X is OPPO’s proprietary dual-engine architecture with two separate chipsets — the Snapdragon® W5 Gen 1 Wearable Platform and the BES2700 MCU. The watch’s two chips have been tuned to work in tandem with Wear OS’s hybrid interface.
It’s pretty tough too. It’s passed the MIL-STD-810H US military standard and is rated for IP68 dust resistance and 5ATM water resistance.
If you bought the OPPO Pad Neo outright, you’d spend A$449 for a pretty good tablet.
The 11.4-inch 2.4K ReadFit screen with a 7:5 aspect ratio is ideal for reading. 7:5 is really like having a book in your hand. Compared with conventional 5:3 tablet displays with similar diagonal screen lengths, the OPPO Pad Neo offers nearly 7% additional screen area.
The 2.4K screen is 2408 x 1720 pixels at a density of 260PPI. It covers 96% NTSC colour gamut with 400 nits peak brightness. Good stats but it is best viewed indoors.
