Samsung has confirmed the expansion of its Mobile AI from the Galaxy S24 series to some previous devices, news we brought to you on Sky News Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert last Sunday.
The One UI 6.1 update will be available on the Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold5, Z Flip5 and Tab S9 series from from April.
“Our goal with Galaxy AI is not only to pioneer a new era of mobile AI, but also to empower
users by making AI more accessible,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience
Business at Samsung Electronics.
“This is only the beginning of Galaxy AI, as we plan to bring the experience to over 100 million Galaxy users within 2024 and continue to innovate ways to harness the unlimited possibilities of mobile AI.”
This is great news for Samsung users. The S23 Ultra is a beast of a phone and this software rollout means there’s no compelling reason to upgrade.. yet.
As a photographer and video shooter I cannot get over how good the Instant Slow-mo is on the S24 series. It takes almost any video shot at a standard frame rate and converts it into silky smooth super slow-mo. It really is amazing. You can see me testing it below.

BROWSING ASSIST
Browsing Assist enables individuals to stay up to speed faster by generating comprehensive summaries of websites.
TRANSCRIPT ASSIST
Transcript Assist can also easily transcribe meeting recordings and generate summaries and translations
GENERATIVE EDIT
Through Generative Edit AI-supported devices can easily resize, reposition, or realign objects in photos to perfect a great shot.
EDIT SUGGESTION
Users can also polish any photo faster and easier than ever before on a Galaxy device with Edit Suggestion.
You can also use AI generated wallpapers to dress up your phone looks.
As far as other phones getting these features? We’ll just have to wait and see. The hardware needs to handle the demands of AI so that means S22 Series users could be next.
