In Sunday’s segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we looked at an Australian designed and built underwater drone. “Hydrus” is a fully autonomous submarine robot that doesn’t need a cable to explore. It is (for real) a game changer for undersea mapping and exploring.
This system developed by Advanced Navigation is a much safer way to operate on the high seas.
Key specs:
9KM RANGE – 3000M DEPTH RATING – 3 HOUR ENDURANCE – SPEED 4 KTS – LIGHTS 20 000 LUMENS – $55K.
· Advanced sonar, navigation and communications systems allows Hydrus to cut the tether and navigate fully autonomously, avoiding obstacles and adjusting missions on the fly.
· Operational straight out of the box, without the need for specific knowledge or training, the web interface makes it simple to plan and execute underwater missions in 3D.
· Hydrus is equipped with a cinema-grade 4K 60fps camera combined with an AI engine to analyse image quality and adjust lighting on the fly.
· Its compact size and minimal weight means it can be launched by a single person and taken as carry-on when flying.

APPLE FANS WAITING UNTIL 2025 FOR IPHONE FOLDABLE
A top analyst has revised his prediction on Apple’s first foldable phone. Ming-Chi Kuo said last year it could be as soon as 2024 – now he’s saying 2025 at earliest. It might be a foldable iPad or a hybrid of iPad & iPhone. Apple is so confident in its business model that it’s happy to wait years before entering the foldable market.
