Extraordinary demand for Apple’s first-ever foldable, the iPhone Duo, is pushing delivery dates out to January next year. Initial pre-orders sold out within minutes on Friday night around the world despite the higher-than-usual cost for a base model. The Duo starts at A$3,499 and tops out at A$5,899.

We could see massive crowds return to Apple stores this Friday (23rd October) when the iPhone Duo officially goes on sale in retail locations. Back in the day, lining up was the best way to guarantee early access to Apple’s latest device, but nowadays, online is just as fast.

Apple says customers shopping in-store or online for the iPhone Duo can connect with Apple Specialists for personalised support and get assistance with ways to save and pay, including financing options. Given the Duo is a foldable, I would strongly recommend AppleCare+ or AppleCare One. If you want to reduce the cash outlay for a new Duo, you can trade in your current iPhone (iPhone 13 or higher) for an instant credit ranging from A$270 to A$1,595.

If you really want the iPhone Duo as soon as possible, check out the telcos which appear to have some delivery dates earlier than late January. I’d keep trying your local Apple store too, and you never know when stock becomes available.

We’ll have a comprehensive review coming your way soon.
