Image Matrix Tech on Sky News: Home security camera alert

0

In Sunday’s segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we covered security flaws found in a popular brand of home surveillance cameras that could allow hackers to steal images and take control of the device. A recent investigation by the security company Bitdefender found these flaws. They found it’s possible for hackers to remotely control some EZVIZ cameras and even download images from them. It is estimated about 10 million devices are impacted based on known Android/iOS installs. The good news is EZVIZ has patches available but if you haven’t updated your cameras yet, you should do so immediately as hackers may still try and craft exploits that leverage these now patched security flaws. It’s a tough decision about when to go public with these issues because it not only warns us .. it also tips off hackers. Luckily there’s a patch .. so get updating.

NEW GOPRO HERO 11 BLACK

A new GoPro, so what’s the big deal? The GoPro Hero 11 Black has a new 8:7 sensor – that means it can record widescreen and vertical video at the same time and not lose resolution when cropping. This is ideal for content creators.  It’s also a 10-bit video camera – that’s a billion colours instead of 16 million.

You get 120fps super view – for epic super slow-mo, night effects : Light painting, light trails and star trails. There’s a mini version too. It’s smaller but has all the shooting features of the larger one. The most you’ll pay is $800 – less with a subscription.

MG HELPING TO GET MORE EV CHARGERS ONLINE

MG Motor will deliver up to 3 thousand EV chargers to hotels and leisure facilities over the next three years. The move comes as sales of EV vehicles broke records in August, accounting for 4.4% of all new car purchases. MG also announced its new EV models – under $50K.

The new 2022 ZS EV with new battery technology improves range from 263 to 320km. New on-board charging capabilities means up to 80% charging time in 54 minutes. I had a test drive and they are great for city driving.

FUJIFILM BRINGS PROFESSIONAL 8K TO ITS CROPPED SENSOR X-H2 MIRRORLESS CAMERA

The Fujifilm X-H2 was recently announced and I had the chance to test it out. The image quality is astounding for an APS-C (cropped sensor) camera. And at just over $3K, it’s the best price by a mile for shooting high quality 8K video.  It beats many cameras that are twice the price!

The scene behind me during this live cross is an 8K image from a video I shot on Sydney Harbour. Why is 8K worth shooting? You can crop in and select the best parts of the video while maintaining sharpness. 8K is 4-times the resolution of 4K and 16-times the resolution of FULL HD.

Check out the unboxing video here.
