Roblox is calling on Australian parents and carers to play a direct role in shaping how the platform protects young people, launching its first-ever Parent Council as part of a broader push to improve online safety. The company, which now has more than 150 million users worldwide, says Australia will be one of the first countries to benefit from its newest safety tools and from this new, more collaborative approach.
The announcement follows a year in which Roblox has introduced more than 145 safety initiatives, including age-based communication controls and facial age checks designed to create more age-appropriate interactions. These tools are intended to offer children safer social experiences while giving parents greater oversight of how their kids use the platform. Dr. Elizabeth Milovidov, Roblox’s Head of Parental Advocacy, said the Council is the next step in ensuring safety evolves in line with real-world family expectations. She emphasised that safeguarding young users is a shared responsibility and that Roblox wants parents to have a genuine voice in what comes next.
The Parent Council will meet quarterly, bringing members together with Roblox’s safety and policy teams to provide feedback on the company’s existing protocols and to suggest improvements based on the challenges families are facing at home. Roblox says the goal is to ensure its safety tools remain practical and relevant as children’s online behaviour continues to change, particularly as younger users adopt more immersive online platforms.

For Australian families, the move offers a more hands-on opportunity to influence how one of the world’s largest gaming platforms evolves. With new features such as facial age verification, enhanced parental controls, and more sophisticated moderation systems already rolling out locally, the Parent Council is a way for parents to shape these systems rather than simply accept them. Roblox is encouraging parents and carers who want to contribute to this global initiative to apply by Sunday, 7 December.
