Breaking News: Microsoft has hired OpenAI founders, Sam Altman and Greg Brockman. Altman was fired only a few days ago by the OpenAI Board and Brockman resigned in response.

The OpenAI board said at the time it “no longer has confidence in his (Altman’s) ability to continue leading OpenAI” but clearly Microsoft thinks otherwise.

A short time ago Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella posted the following on social media platforms.

” .. we’re extremely excited to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, together with colleagues, will be joining Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team. We look forward to moving quickly to provide them with the resources needed for their success.”

The Microsoft boss was on stage recently with Altman at the first ever OpenAI DevDay.

” We remain committed to our partnership with OpenAI and have confidence in our product roadmap, our ability to continue to innovate with everything we announced at Microsoft Ignite, and in continuing to support our customers and partners,” said Nadella.

“We look forward to getting to know Emmett Shear and OAI’s new leadership team and working with them.”

The working relationship between Microsoft and OpenAI will be something to watch.
