The Powerbeats Pro 2 wireless earbuds are built for fitness but I reckon they are also great for travel. The iconic workout headphones have been gym favourites since 2019 thanks to their earhooks which have been reinforced with a nickel titanium alloy. The earhooks not only lock the earbuds in place during sporting activity, they also keeps the headphones from falling out while travelling on planes and trains. Something I’m always worried about.

Tested by nearly 1,000 athletes, the reinforced earhook, boosted by a nickel titanium alloy, resulted in Powerbeats Pro 2 being 20% lighter than the previous model. Comfort and stability is vital when performing high energy activity and that includes travel. You don’t want to be constantly adjusting your earbuds while performing a task. Fortunately with Powerbeats Pro 2, once they are in, they stay in.
They are tough enough too, able to handle training in rain, snow and heat. Powerbeats Pro 2 is sweat and water resistant with an IPX4 rating.

HEART RATE MONITORING

There are sensors in each earbud, giving athletes real-time data on their performance. LED optical sensors pulse over 100 times per second to measure blood flow.
AUDIO FEATURES
The Powerbeats Pro 2 have all the latest audio features thanks to the development of Apple’s AirPods Pro line. The new Powerbeats include a redesigned acoustic architecture and Personalised Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking. This should deliver stronger, more immersive sound from deep bass to clear highs.
To ensure the best listening experience when training, Beats uses Apple’sActive Noise Cancelling technology and added Transparency mode to allow athletes to hear the world around them.
Adaptive EQ tunes sound in real time based on how Powerbeats Pro 2 fits in the user’s ear. An inward-facing microphone monitors for sound, and then Adaptive EQ, powered by computational audio, tunes the low and mid frequencies to account for what may be lost due to variances in fit.
CONTROL AND PAIRING
Powerbeats Pro 2 is fully compatible with Apple devices for one-touch pairing, automatic switching, Audio Sharing, hands-free Siri and Find My. For Android users, the Beats App unlocks one-touch pairing, the ability to activate or disable Heart Rate Monitoring, customisable controls, battery status widgets, Locate My Beats, and over-the-air updates.
On-ear buttons or hands-free Siri can be used to control music, so users can focus on uninterrupted training. Each earbud also has a tactile volume rocker.
Each earbud is equipped with a voice accelerometer and three advanced microphones, which are more accurate than ever before. Leveraging advanced computational audio and a machine-learning algorithm, Voice Isolation reduces background noise while isolating and clarifying the user’s voice during calls. With an improved signal-to-noise ratio, voice targeting and noise suppression, Powerbeats Pro 2 boasts has much better call performance.
BATTERY LIFE
Powered by the Apple-designed H2 chip, Powerbeats Pro 2 delivers up to 45 hours of battery life with the charging case, with each bud delivering up to 10 hours of playback per charge. If you need a quick hit, a five-minute charge provides up to 90 minutes of playback.
The charging case is 33% smaller than its predecessor and is Beats’ first-ever case to feature wireless charging.
