In Sunday’s segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we looked at Mobile World Congress and asked, “where were all the phones?”
Of course there were many phones there but we saw very few major reveals. The convention has become something a little different. Connectivity is about more than phones with the expansion of 5G globally. So laptops and hybrid devices are sharing the limelight with ‘traditional’ smartphones. This is understandable, as many other phone launches are happening before and after MWC in Barcelona.
TCL made its mark during the week with a range of devices including – yes – phones.
OPPO made jaw-dropping leap in fast charging. 240 Watts capable of charging a 4500mAh battery from 0-100% in just nine minutes.
MICROSOFT LAPTOP STUDIO ARRIVES IN AUSTRALIA
Surface Laptop Studio is finally on sale in Australia and I’ve got one to test. It has Laptop Mode, Stage Mode and Studio Mode. Also compatible with the Slim Pen 2. It’s a strange mix between laptop and 2-in-1 but it’s certainly powerful .. if… you get the right model.
The Surface Laptop Studio starts at $AUD 2,399 but you’ll need to go higher if you want the best graphics performance. My initial experience is pretty good.
GRAN TURISMO 7
Playstation’s Gran Turismo 7 is going to fool a lot of people on social media. I see it all the time. A beat up van winning a car race or an insane landing by a plane, often get pass as real. The latest version of Playstation’s driving game/sim is so realistic many people will not be able to tell the difference between real video and game video.
It renders light in a natural way and elements like rain realistically impact driving. You have to see it to believe it.
