In Sunday’s segment on Sky News Australia (Weekend Edition with Tim Gilbert) we looked at Norton’s new one-stop solution for online safety. It’s called Norton 360 Advanced. We discuss how it does all the usual stuff; virus, malware, spyware and ransomware protection – but it also does a lot more for just over $250 AUD. There’s a VPN for online privacy, cloud storage (200GB), parental controls, password manager, dark web and social media monitoring.
But what really interested me were the tools to fight identity theft. You not only get a real person to talk to – they will remain your ‘agent’ until the situation is resolved – and you get insurance, worth up to $58 000 AUD.
Norton Identity theft insurance
25k legal expense reimbursement (to get your ID/reputation/new forms of Identity etc.)
$25k obligation to pay cover (most banks don’t cover refunds of scams)
$3k for lost income (it takes time to get your life back)
$5k for miscellaneous expenses
I’ll be signing up to test it out. So make sure you check out that video review when it goes online.
VIVID AS SEEN THROUGH CANON VR
Sydney’s light festival, VIVID, ended on the weekend. Most people were using a smartphone to capture the displays with the occasional ‘real’ camera out and about. So I took up an offer from Canon Australia to test out the R5 C and their super-fast dual fisheye lens to record 180 degree video.
As a veteran 360 video shooter I was surprised how immersive this Canon system is and how I want to shoot more. We show the equipment and examples of playable 180 degree video on a laptop.
THERABODY STARS AT FITNESS AND WELLNESS EXPO
We also toured the Fitness and Wellness Expo in Sydney, starting with Therabody. I’m testing these Therabody devices and wanted to see more at the expo. Fitness is also about recovery and getting the right gear is vital.
Elsewhere on the show floor there was a new running machine by Reaxing that wobbles to keep you switched on mentally – I tried it. This is the first time you are seeing it in Australia.
There was also Fitslim – it’s like running in a sauna from the waist down. So if you want to drop kilos fast – this will do it.
This was a fun segment.
