Sonos CEO Patrick Spence has resigned following last year’s botched app rollout.

The Board has appointed Tom Conrad as Interim CEO, also effective immediately. Conrad has been an independent member of the Board since 2017.

“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Patrick for his contributions as CEO,” said Julius Genachowski, Chair of the Board of Directors.

“During his tenure, Patrick built on our pioneering success in wireless home audio and led the Company’s expansion into premium audio for home theatre, portables, and headphones.

“We appreciate Patrick’s dedication to Sonos.”

In a statement, Sonos said the leadership change is “unrelated to the Company’s fiscal first quarter results” – to be reported on February 6, 2025. The Board has begun searching for a permanent CEO with the assistance of a leading executive search firm.

Sonos has been battling to recover since the all-at-once automated app release in May last year. Customers went on a rampage on forum sites and social media after their much loved, expensive Sonos music setups starting having issues.
