Smart home brand Aqara has announced the Australian launch of its new Camera Hub G350, positioning it as the world’s first Matter-certified security camera and a significant step toward truly unified smart home systems.

At its core, the G350 is designed to solve a familiar frustration: smart home devices that don’t always play nicely together. With Matter certification onboard, the camera works across major ecosystems including Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings, allowing users to manage their security setup without being locked into a single platform.

SMART HOME CONTROL AND HARDWARE

But this isn’t just a standard indoor camera. The G350 doubles as a smart home hub, combining Zigbee support, a Matter controller and a Matter bridge into one device. In practical terms, that means it can connect and coordinate a wider range of smart home accessories—both Aqara and third-party—without needing additional hubs cluttering up your setup.

On the hardware side, the G350 leans into a more premium security experience. It features a dual-lens system, pairing a 4K wide-angle camera with a 2.5K telephoto lens. This setup enables up to 9x hybrid zoom, alongside full 360-degree coverage via pan and tilt movement. The idea is simple: one device can monitor an entire room while still capturing detail when it matters.

THE AI COMPONENT

AI plays a big role here too. The camera can automatically track people and pets, while on-device intelligence filters alerts to focus on meaningful activity rather than constant notifications. It also supports two-way audio and live viewing directly within compatible smart home apps.

Privacy—often a sticking point with indoor cameras—has been given a strong focus. The G350 includes local storage via microSD (up to 512GB), NAS backup options, and encrypted cloud storage. There’s also a physical privacy feature: when the camera is turned off, the lens rotates upward and is physically concealed inside the unit.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The Camera Hub G350 is priced at $269 AUD and is available from 13 April via Aqara’s Australian website. As part of the launch promotion, buyers who pick one up before 27 April will receive a $150 Aqara gift voucher for future purchases.

For anyone trying to bring order to a fragmented smart home setup, the G350 looks like a serious attempt to combine security, automation and cross-platform compatibility into a single, tidy package.
