Motorola has unveiled one of its largest Australian product launches in recent years, introducing its first book-style foldable smartphone, the razr fold, an updated flagship flip phone, the razr 70 ultra, and premium Swarovski-inspired accessories. The new range is aimed at consumers looking for everything from productivity-focused foldables to fashion-conscious premium devices.

The biggest announcement is the motorola razr fold, Motorola’s first book-style foldable smartphone. Moving beyond the traditional flip-phone design, the device features a 6.6-inch external display that unfolds into an expansive 8.1-inch 2K LTPO internal display, providing significantly more screen space for multitasking, entertainment and creative work.

Photography is one of the standout features. The razr fold includes a triple 50-megapixel rear camera system comprising a Sony LYTIA 828 main sensor, a periscope telephoto lens capable of up to 100x digital zoom and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with macro capabilities. Selfies are handled by both a 32-megapixel internal camera and a 20-megapixel external camera, allowing users to capture high-quality images whether the phone is open or closed.

The razr fold is set to compete with some of the biggest names in folding devices

Under the hood is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, paired with support for Google Gemini, Motorola’s moto ai platform and Perplexity AI. The large internal display is also compatible with the optional moto pen ultra stylus, allowing handwritten notes, sketching and annotation directly on screen.

Motorola has equipped the razr fold with a 6,000mAh battery, one of the largest capacities currently available in a foldable smartphone, alongside 80W TurboPower fast charging. The device is also built around a stainless steel hinge with Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic protection, while Motorola is committing to seven Android operating system upgrades and seven years of security updates.

The motorola razr 70 ultra continues Motorola’s premium flip-phone lineup while delivering substantial upgrades over previous generations.

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, the device features a triple 50-megapixel camera system and becomes Motorola’s first flip phone to use a LOFIC image sensor, designed to improve dynamic range and image quality in difficult lighting conditions. AI-assisted photography features such as Group Shot, Signature Style and Rotate to Zoom further expand its camera capabilities.

The familiar Flex View hinge allows the phone to stand on its own for hands-free photography and video recording, while the 4-inch external display continues to provide access to apps, notifications and messaging without opening the handset.

The razr 70 ultra delivers an evolutionary step in an already great device range

A 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery powers the device, supported by 68W TurboPower charging that can deliver a day’s use from just a short charge. Motorola has also reinforced the hinge with titanium and added Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic to improve durability.

Motorola has also expanded its premium collection with Swarovski editions of the motorola signature and moto buds 2 plus.

Both devices are finished in Pantone Violet Indigo and decorated with Swarovski crystals, with the motorola signature featuring a distinctive quilted crystal pattern. The moto buds 2 plus continue to feature Bose-tuned audio while matching the same premium aesthetic.

Rather than focusing on technical upgrades, these editions are designed for buyers looking for luxury finishes and premium styling, combining Motorola’s partnership with Swarovski and Pantone into a coordinated collection.

Pricing and Availability

The motorola razr fold is available for pre-order from today until 15 July in PANTONE Blackened Blue and PANTONE Lily White, with a recommended retail price of AU$2,799. It is available through JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman, while Telstra will begin pre-orders from 7 July.

The motorola razr 70 ultra is also available for pre-order until 15 July through JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman with a recommended retail price of AU$1,999.
